TJOVITJO – Local Drama Series

Tjovitjo is a local drama series representing cutting-edge storytelling at its best, authentic and edgy, provocative yet exciting in its potential to push the envelope. The series depicts the lives of a group of dancers, amatjovitjo trained in the classical dance style of SePantsula. They struggle, they love, they laugh, they lose but every chance they get, every time they feel like giving up, every time the world reminds them that their life is one of strife, they dance. In the midst of this, they zig-zag their neighbourhood with booby traps and obstacles, some seen, some unseen. They watch the goings-on around them, some hilarious some heart-breaking, every time their troubles bring them down, they dance. No pity, and no entitlement, their world forgotten by Joburgs gentrifiers, and tenderpreneurs, their lives go on, still, with or without an audience they dance.
