Leading #Data4All campaign, DA Spokesperson on Quality & Status of Women, Youth and Disability, Katlego Phala will also deliver a keynote address and interact with the youth about the challenges they face on a daily basis. The campaign starts at 17h00.
“Many young South Africans are unable to access the internet because the data costs are way too high. The DA Youth launched the campaign calling for 500MB free mobile data per month for those who cannot afford exorbitant data costs,” said Phala.
Phala said DA Youth encouraged all young South Africans across the country to sign the petition at www.data4all.org.za.
“The DA Youth wants 500MBs free data per month for (1) registered NSFAS students (2) students from low-income families not qualifying for student loans, (3) registered matrics, and (4) registered jobseekers.” added Phala
According to Phala many young South Africans were unable to access the internet because data costs were too high.
“Access to the internet is a basic human right, it provides opportunities for young people to access information; learn, and find jobs. But the ANC doesn’t care and has done nothing to bring down data prices,” said Phala
