SABC1 partnered with SA Hip Hop Awards 2017  

SABC 1 is proud to announce that it has entered into partnership with the SA Hip Hop Awards as their new TV broadcast partner.

The South African Hip Hop music awards have also introduced electrifying comedians Nina Hastie as the main host of the 6th Annual South African Hip Hop Awards 2017 with the second host to be announced in the build-up to the main show.

The main event will be taking place on Wednesday, December 13 at The Lyric Theatre, Gold Reef City, and Johannesburg, where great achievements within the local hip hop culture will be celebrated.

SABC TV Network Marketing Manager Dichaba Phalatse said with these new developments, the event proceedings promise to be more entertaining, informative and engaging for the Hip Hop masses that will be in attendance.

“We are excited about this historic partnership which will allow the awards to spread their reach to cover millions of SABC1 viewers, as well as bringing the channels’ proposition of being more than TV but youth culture to life. The partnership will also be integrated into  popular SABC1 TV Shows such as, LIVE AMP, Selimathunzi, Mzansi Insider and YOTV which will feature aspects of the awards,” explained Phalatse.

The theme this year is “Hip Hop Politics.

 Accolades will be given to active members within the industry.

Winners receive a statue that is called a Pyramid.

The show will boast a number of appearances, live performances and tributes by todays’ leading musicians.

The main awards ceremony will be pre-recorded and scheduled for broadcast on SABC 1 at a date to be announced – for the benefit of millions of television viewers not able to make it to the main awards ceremony.
