Fisherman drowns in Mogol River

The police in Lephalale are investigating yet another instance of an inquest docket.

Police investigation came after lifesavers on Sunday dived into  Mogol River, a couple of kilometres outside Lephalale  town to retrieve the body of a man.

“It is alleged that the 64-year-old man was fishing in the river with his friends, when his angling pole bar stalled out and he got inside the stream trying to recover it, yet drowned,” Police said.

“A search operation by the safeguard group promptly followed where his body was recovered,” added the Police.

The deceased has been identified as Jonas Letswalo of Marapong township.

Police investigations continue.

“The police in the province continue to caution members of the community to be extremely careful when participating in different activities around rivers and dams following a number of incidents of drowning reported recently,” warned the Police.
