Live AMP says goodbye to Lerato Kganyago

The South African Broadcasting Corporation’s (SABC1) biggest channel, SABC1 and Urban Brew Studios announce the departure of popular Live AMP presenter, Lerato Kganyago from the show.

Lerato has resigned to pursue other career interests after two successful years with the show.

In season 22, Live AMP has become a huge part of popular culture in South Africa showcasing the biggest local hits and providing a platform for the most celebrated and up-and-coming artists.

Lerato Kganyago joined DJ Warras as a presenter in April 2016 and became popular with the over 4 million viewers of the weekly show.

She delivered the show as expected of her and it is no surprise she received the South African Film and Television Award (SAFTA) in the Best Presenter category.

“It was an absolute pleasure watching Lerato grow with the Live AMP brand.  Her love and passion for entertainment kept her grounded throughout her stay.  She will no doubt make a success of anything she takes on,” said Live AMP Series Producer, Akhumzi Jezile.

Co-hosting Live AMP has been the most incredible and fulfilling ride of her entertainment career.

However, two years in the same spot is a little too long for a Soweto girl like me who is always looking for a new challenge.

“I will forever be indebted to SABC 1 and Urban Brew for allowing me the unparalleled opportunity to showcase my talents on the country’s premium music entertainment offering,” said Lerato Kganyago.

“Her commitment to the show is clear in her recent SAFTA win. We are grateful that as a public broadcaster we have contributed to her television career and are proud to have had Lerato as part of the Live AMP family. We wish her well and we would like to thank her for her commitment to Live AMP and SABC1 over the years.” – said Head of Public Relations for SABC TV, Zandile Nkonyeni.

Lerato’s last Live AMP show is on Friday, 18th of May.

Producers will announce details, about Live AMP in due course
