“DA launches criminal charges against Minister Nzimande for alleged NSFAS kickback scheme”

The Democratic Alliance (DA) launched a fiery attack on Tuesday, hurling criminal charges at Minister of Higher Education, Dr Blade Nzimande, for his alleged involvement in a scheme to swindle the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) through illicit kickbacks.

According to the damning report by Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (Outa), meetings between the NSFAS board chairperson, Ernest Khoza, Thula Ntumba of Coinvest, and an unknown third party were recorded, exposing discussions about the appointment of Werksmans Attorneys to manipulate the investigation, and suspicious payments to the SACP and Minister Nzimande.

DA’s Shadow Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Karabo Khakhau, declared that the leaked audio recordings are proof of the Minister’s betrayal of vulnerable students and the public’s trust.

Despite the opportunity to clear his name, Minister Nzimande remained evasive, failing to provide any evidence to refute Outa’s allegations and reassure the nation that he has not jeopardized the future of students for personal gain.
