156 people succumbed to the COVID-19-related virus

The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases identified in South Africa is 3 568 900, with 4 322 new cases reported in the last 24 hour reporting period, according to the National Department of Health (NDoH).

The department has confirmed that 156 people succumbed to the virus, bringing the total to 93, 707 deaths.

Due to the ongoing audit exercise by the NDoH, there may be a backlog of COVID-19 mortality cases reported. Today, the NDoH reports 156 deaths, and of these, 36 occurred in the past 24 to 48 hours. This brings the total fatalities to 93,707 to date, “the department said.

Health authorities reported that the cumulative number of recoveries now stands at 3,390, 027 with a recovery rate of 95 percent.
