Lephalale Day Care Centres gets food parcels

Christmas came early for a throng of the little ones in Lephalale villages, thanks to the Local Mayor Jack Moloko Maeko in partnership with Vodacom, one of SA leading Cellular’s service provider.

The much needed food parcels were distributed at Day Care Centres in Ga- Seleka, Moong, Kgobagodimo, Shongoane and Dubbs villages.

Lephalale Municipality spokesperson Conscious Chiloane said the initiative is part of Early Childhood Development programme to distribute food parcels in the villages.

Chiloane said the Mayor vested great interest in the early development of children as it was an essential part of producing healthy, responsible and success driven adults.

She said all the heads of the centres welcomed the donations.

They said it was an honour to have a Mayor who prioritised Early Childhood Development.

The continuing building of Day Care Centres in various Lephalale villages is the initiative of the Mayor in partnership with Eskom-Medupi project.

Chiloane said he Second leg of the programme would be the annual distribution of groceries to the elderly.

According to Councillor Maeko the groceries are a gesture of appreciation because it is a well-known fact that most elderly use their social grants to look after their children and grandchildren

“I am aware that our grandmothers and grandfathers, use their social grants to feed their unemployed children, pay school fees for their grandchildren and on top of that they also make sure that there is food for everyone in their families”. said Maeko.
