While on suspension as far back as seven years, Head of Crime Intelligence Richard Mdluli purportedly earned a whopping R8, 3 million.

Following the announcement of his chopping on Wednesday, the former crime busting boss was guaranteed golden handshake.

The National Police Commissioner, General Khehla Sitole  confirmed Mdluli was given early retirement, saying he meets all requirements related to his service.

Democratic Alliance (DA) Shadow Minister of Police Zakhele Mbhele said his party thinks that its unsuitable that Mdluli has effectively gotten R8.3 million in the course of recent years for sitting at home and contributing nothing to the fight  against crime in South Africa.

He said Police Minister Fikile Mbalula must inform general society of the exact financial benefits that will accrue to Mdluli

“It is inadmissible that individuals who are poorly prepared and traded off to fight wrongdoing get such advantages while our people keep on living under attack in view of the abnormal amounts of crime in their communities,” said Mbhele.

Mbhele calls on Public Service Commission to finish their investigation  concernig the seven-year suspension and deferral in closing the disciplinary procedure against him which they began at the DA’s requestin July 2017.

“South Africans deserve to live in a safe and crime-free society. This can only be assured by dedicated police committed to fighting crime and upholding the rule of law,” added Mbhele

Mdluli has been on suspension since 2011.

That was after he was allegedly entangled in a love triangle, tragically  ending with the death of Oupa Ramogibe.
