“Balaclava rapists”

For a considerable length of time in Alexandra Township, young girls as youthful as 14 years of age, women and couples fell prey to two serial attackers covering up in balaclavas.

The men would rob, assault, abduct and force couples to engage in sexual intercourse with each other at gunpoint.

Toward the end of last year, the men,  Josias Xaniseka Mkansi and Sinja Robin Mabitsela were sentenced to 14 life terms and 185 years, and 32 life sentences in addition to 270 years, separately.

This brought their nearly decade long rule of dread to an end.

In this scene of Special Assignment we put the focus on this difficult part that the group of Alexandra has shut.

In any case, the men abandon a trail of destruction where a few casualties would never recuperate from their experience.

The groups of the two culprits are left in dismay and can’t understand who the attackers were.

This program likewise concentrates on the wonder of serial assault, its usual way of doing things and how the law manages it.

Watch The Balaclava Rapists produced by Lindile Mpanza for Special Assignment, aired on Monday, January 22, at 21h00 only on SABC3.
