The company’s Managing Director Charles Zhao has announced it will make available a fleet of its flagship Haval H6 C and H9 SUVs to ensure heads of state, government officials and business colossuses from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa get to the high-level meeting in style.

The 2017 BRICS Summit was in China and this year South Africa host the world’s leading emerging economies.

“We will utilise Haval series of the H6 C and H9 to ferry dignitaries around Johannesburg for the duration of the 2018 BRICS Summit from July 25 to 27,” said Zhao.

The carmaker says coming to local shores from China in the wake of the 2018 BRICS Summit, Haval, the professional SUV division of GWM, recently celebrated its first year of doing business here [South Africa] in BRICS style, celebrating a 500% increase in sales in the first 10 months.

“Haval launched in South Africa back in May 2017 and we started 12 months ago with just three Haval dealers. By June 2018 we have expanded to no less than 29 Haval dealers countrywide after receiving full factory back-up,” said Zhao.

He said Haval retail sales increased five-fold in South Africa by the end of the company’s first year in South Africa.

“Our aim is to have 35 Haval dealers across the country by the end of this year. Haval will utilise a series of the H6 C and to ferry dignitaries around Johannesburg for the duration of the 2018 BRICS Summit from July 25 to 27,” said Zhao.

He said the new-to-South-Africa company will launch its latest addition to its powerful SUV range, the H9, in September.

This big seven-seater has outperformed some much more expensive rivals down under, and drew high praise from judges in Australia’s toughest, most coveted 4X4 awards in 2017 – along the way cementing the big H9’s credentials as a machine “rugged enough to survive the Australian outback”.

“Transporting the dignitaries for the 2018 BRICS Summit in and around Johannesburg, I am sure everyone will not only be safe at their different venues throughout the summit but also on time,” conclude Zhao.
