Mboweni is the new finance Minister

Tito Mboweni has been appointed as Minister of Finance, following the resignation of disgraced Nhlanhla Nene.

In filling the vacant post on Tuesday afternoon, President Cyril Ramaphosa said the former Reserve Bank Governor Mboweni brings in a wealth of experience in areas of finance and economic policies.

Nene tendered his resignation as Finance Minister in the wake of the developments emanating from his recent testimony before the Commission of Inquiry into State Capture.
