A man charged with money laundering offense has had his bail refused in the Lephalale Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
Police arrested Rory John Hamisa Logan (52) at the South African-Botswana border post on Monday after they uncovered more than half a million rand stashed in his car.
Police Spokesperson Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said Logan was driving a Toyota sedan with Zimbabwean plate number at the vehicle search point at Stockpoort Border Post near Lephalale when police swooped on him.
“The cash amount of R600 000 hidden inside the car was undeclared by the driver and they then seized it. Police at once arrested the driver for money laundering,” said Ngoepe.
Ngoepe said Logan appeared in court charged with money laundering but was refused bail and the court postponed the matter to November 29, pending further investigations.
According to Ngoepe the man was among 16 suspects arrested by Intelligent led joint operations for serious and violent crimes in various areas in Limpopo at the weekend.
