Second attempt to apply for bail proved futile for two suspects charged with raping a high school teacher.
Lesiba Merchanson Molokomme (31) and his co-accused, an 18- year- old boy were denied bail on Monday when they appeared in the Phalala Magistrate’s Court in Witpoort, Ga-Seleka outside Lephalale.
The case was postponed to January 16, 2019 for further investigations.
The court remanded the pair into custody.
Limpopo Police Spokesperson Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said cops charged the duo with kidnapping, rape, common robbery and theft of the motor vehicle.
The Intelligent led joint operation followed these suspects around the clock until they tracked them at two separate areas outside Lephalale.
During the arrest, said Ngoepe, one of the suspect had the ignition keys of the victim’s car which they later they found abandoned in bushes near Marken.
This follows an incident that occurred on Friday 23, 2018 when these suspects broke into a rented room of the 28-year-old high school teacher near Marken, while she was sleeping.
They tied her, loaded her inside the boot of her car and drove away with her. The police later found the victim dumped in the bushes along the road to Bakenburg outside Mokopane.
Police took the teacher to hospital for medical treatment.
“It was also detected that the suspects took turns in gang raping the victim and dumped her still tied in the bushes before they fled the scene with her motor vehicle VW Polo,” said Ngoepe.
Police investigations are still continuing.
