Limpopo African National Congress (ANC) chairperson, Stanley Chupu Mathabatha was on Wednesday sworn in as provincial premier.
Mathabatha retains the province’s premiership.
The swearing-in of representatives of the legislature follows the recently concluded sixth National and Provincial Elections on May 8.
Limpopo Judge President Ephraim Makgoba presided over the swearing at Lebowakgomo Legislature following the appointed of Mathabatha as preferred premier candidates.
The ruling party elected Mavhungu Luruli-Ramakhanya as Speaker of the legislature while Essop Mokgonyana become ANC Chief Whip.
“Let me start first by congratulating our brand new Madam Speaker for being elected to this important position. We congratulate you, with the Deputy Speaker on your fresh mandate.
We have the trust in your collective capacities to drive the work of this House,” said Mathabatha.
In appointing his cabinet Mathabatha said it is an effort to carry out the ruling party’s manifesto.
He said amongst others the appointing the team includes to advance social transformation and stepping up the fight against corruption.
“I have appointed the following Members of the Executive Council.
I wish this team of capable men and women good luck in executing their duties with all their abilities,” said Mathabatha.
1. Sports, Arts and Culture: Thandi Moraka.
2. Education : Polly Boshielo.
3. Agriculture : Nandi Ndalane.
4. Economic Development: Thabo Mokone.
5. Public Works Roads and Infrastructure :Dr Onnica Mochadi
6. Coghsta: Baisikopo Makamu.
7. Social Development: Nkakareng Rakgoale.
8. Treasury: Seaparo Sekoati
9. Health: Dr Phophi Ramathuba
10.Transport: Dickson Namane Masemola.
