Police have arrested a suspect relating to a murder of an elderly woman found with multiple injuries laying outside her suburban house in Modimolle, Limpopo.
Limpopo Police Spokesperson, Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe confirmed cops arrested the 51-year-old suspect at Reabetswe village in Witpoort, Ga-Seleka outside Lephalale on Monday morning.
Ngoepe said the suspect was found hiding at his sister’s house whom police are investigating for a possible charge of harbouring a fugitive.
The arrest follows an incident which occurred on August 23, 2019 when police received a report about a woman found critically injured at her home.
“Police along with Emergency services quickly responded to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the woman lying at her yard with multiple injuries all over her body and she was certified dead on the scene by the Paramedics,” said Ngoepe.
Police identified the deceased as Trudy Grabe.
Police have earlier released a statement that preliminary investigations shows that one of the deceased’s ex-employee left the house on the same day before cops found the body of a woman lying in the yard.
The suspect will appear before the Modimolle Magistrate’s Court soon on a charge of murder.
The Acting Limpopo Police Commissioner, Major General Samuel Manala has commended the Detectives in Modimolle for their swift reaction in this matter which led to the arrest of this suspect.
“Members of the community are once more complimented for the role they played in supplying the Police with a quality and reliable information until police arrested the suspect,” added General Manala.
Ngoepe said police investigations are still continuing.
