Modimolle murder suspect appears in court

A man accused of mercilessly killing his former employer appeared in the Modimolle Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, charged with murder.

The court didn’t ask Morris Maripa (51) to plead and it postponed his case to October 3 pending further police investigations.

Magistrate remanded him into custody.

Limpopo police spokesperson, Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said the suspect was hiding at his sister’s house in Reabetswe village in Witpoort, Ga-Seleka outside Lephalale when cops arrested him on Monday morning.

The arrest follows an incident which occurred on August 23, 2019 when police received a report about an elderly woman found critically injured at her home.

“Police along with Emergency services quickly responded to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the woman lying at her yard with multiple injuries all over her body and she was certified dead on the scene by the Paramedics,” said Ngoepe.

Police identified the deceased as Trudy Grabe.

Police have earlier released a statement that preliminary investigations shows that one of the deceased’s ex-employee left the house on the same day before cops found the body of a woman lying in the yard.
