Beauty industry offers more than cosmetic touch ups

According to the Mental Health Foundation, a negative body image can also contribute to the development of eating disorders and other lifestyle behaviours.
The foundation also warns that body image can affect a woman’s relationship with her body.
Feeling self-conscious about one’s body image or shape can affect one’s lifestyle choices.
“Body image refers to what we think of our body, how we think, feel and speak about ourselves, and how we act towards our physique. Skincare is key to confidence,” added the foundation.
“The road to self-love has always been more difficult for women because of the many difficult hormonal stages we face in life,” says Joha-Nel van Zyl, Operations Manager at Eximia Belle, an aesthetic boutique clinic.
