“AfriForum unwavering in face of false allegations”

AfriForum, a civil rights organisation, is currently facing a malicious fake news campaign on social media that is aimed at defaming the organisation.
In statement on Wednesday,, AfriForum claim has taken action against certain social media users by sending letters of demand to stop the distribution of false, misleading, and defamatory content.
Chief Spokesperson for Community Safety at AfriForum, Jacques Broodryk, has loo warned that legal action will be taken against those involved in defaming the organisation.
False allegations claiming that AfriForum members are involved in various crimes have been circulating on social media platforms in recent weeks.

Broodryk emphasised that these allegations are not only untrue but also divisive, especially at a time when South Africa is undergoing a new political direction.
The fake news includes claims such as a suspected drug farm in Limpopo being operated by an AfriForum member and AfriForum members targeting black business owners in Hartbeespoort.,the suspects accused of murdering two women and feeding them to pigs are AfriForum members;
a suspect who apparently killed two Mpumalanga men and burned their bodies, is an AfriForum member

According to Broodryk, spreading these falsehoods is dangerous as it polarizes race relations and incites hatred.
He clarified that AfriForum members were not involved in the crimes mentioned in the fake news campaign and called it a desperate attempt to overshadow the organisation’s work.

In addition to the false allegations, there are claims that AfriForum is a terrorist organisation, which Broodryk described as absurd and untrue.
AfriForum condemns any attempts to sow polarisation as the organisation believes in mutual respect and cooperation among communities.
