As election results are tallied, ANC leads in polling progress

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) had collected nearly 55% of the votes by 8pm on Friday.

According to the IEC results dashboard, the African National Congress (ANC) is leading nationally with 41.23% of the votes, followed by the Democratic Alliance (DA) at 22.25%, and the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party at 13.11%. 

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) holds 9.58% of the votes, while the Patriotic Alliance (PA) is at 2.75%. 

These are the top parties by voting station, with the IEC still capturing results for the 2024 National and Provincial Elections. 

Counting procedures have been mostly completed, with only a few voting stations left to report their results.

With 19,266 out of 23,292 voting districts completed, the voter turnout stands at 58.42%, representing 2.72% of the total. 

The leading party in each voting district (voting station) has the following support:

 

  • ANC: 41.23% with 5,091,016 votes

  • DA: 22.25% with 2,747,280 votes

  • M.K.: 13.11% with 1,618,775 votes
