Limpopo traditional leaders will visit Baphoting Bo Seleka Royal House, outside Lephalale in Limpopo, on Thursday to offer condolences to the family of Chief Pheto David Seleka,.
He [Phetogo] died on Tuesday morning due to COVID-19 complications.
In his remarks a day before his planned visit to the royal house, Kgoshi Malesela Dikgale, chairman of the Limpopo House of Traditional Leaders, expressed sadness for the loss that Kgosi Seleka’s family and the community are going through.
“Sadly, Kgosi Seleka passed on at a time of a long-standing chieftaincy conflict that had not yet been resolved,” said Kgoshi Dikagle.
He hinted at a court battle that he says is still raging, but didn’t give specifics.
Kgoshi Dikgale noted that the confrontation at Ga-Seleka is not an isolated case and that many of our communities face similar challenges.
Kgoshi Dikgale expressed optimism that the concerns would be resolved soon.
He added that Kgosi Seleka’s death was also felt by the House of Traditional Leaders in the Waterberg region of which he was an active member.
In a bid to curb the rising coronavirus deaths, Kgosi Dikgale says traditional leaders are also in charge in their communities, advising villagers to be vaccinated and to avoid traditional healers and some churches that claim to be able to treat the COVID-19 virus.
