Converse extents deadline for students owing fees to apply for assistance

America’s leading shoe company, Converse has extended until March 14, 2021, the deadline for higher education students who owe fees to apply for financial aid to settle their debts.

The converse is a subsidiary of Nike, designs, distributes, and licenses branded lifestyle shoes including All-Stars, skating shoes, footwear, apparel, and accessories.

Popular with university students and marketed as a casual footwear brand, All-Star sneakers with hundreds of styles, Converse is ploughing back to the student’s community where it also does business.

Converse, through its #Kickthedebt campaign, has decided to pay off the debts of students studying at higher learning institutions in South Africa.

Converse initially pledged to provide R1 million to help underprivileged students and has now increased the amount to R2 million.

“To an overwhelming response, Converse doubled the commitment of R1 million and declared an R2 million through #kickthedebt campaign. Converse recognizes the need to assist students across South Africa and has decided to expand and increase the campaign to give more students a chance to get rid of their debts. The campaign has been extended for an additional 2 weeks and will end on March 14, 2021,” said Converse.

The focus of the #kickthedebt campaign is to try and alleviate even a small portion of the result of generational economic depression.

“Converse recognizes and understands the need to support young South Africans. As a result, Converse has established a campaign aims at making a costly difference as student debt is insanely high. The issue of student debt must be erased,” the company said.

Converse made entry-level access for students easy using digital platforms. To combat these barriers, applicants can log in and access the #KicktheDebt nomination form on the Converse e-commerce website at www. converse

At the end of the nomination phase, Converse, influencers, and a panel of independent judges will review the nominations and select the ultimate beneficiaries.
