COVID-19 killed two more people, virus risen to 3 158

Much the same as on Sat­ur­day, coro­n­avirus has killed two more peo­ple in Kwa-Zulu Natal and the West­ern Cape, respec­tive­ly. “Today we regret­tably report two more COVID-19 relat­ed deaths. Sim­i­lar to yes­ter­day, these are from KwaZu­lu-Natal and the West­ern Cape.,” said Health Min­is­ter Dr. Zweli Mkhize.

In a state­ment on Sun­day, Mkhize has, on behalf of the depart­ment, con­veyed con­do­lences to the fam­i­lies.

Dr. Mkhize also extend­ed appre­ci­a­tion for the com­mit­ment shown by the health work­ers who were treat­ing the deceased patients.

Their pass­ing brings to date the total num­ber of coro­n­avirus relat­ed death toll to 54.

As of today, said Dr. Mkhize, the total num­ber of con­firmed COVID-19 cas­es in South Africa has risen to 3158.

He added that the total num­ber of ongo­ing tests being con­duct­ed in the coun­try has reached 114 711.
