The Democratic Alliance (DA) is considering filing a complaint with the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) against Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Nazier Paulsen for his recent offensive comment on social media against members of the coloured community.
In a statement on Tuesday, DA Chief Whip, Natasha Mazzone described Paulsen’s Facebook post as derogatory and dehumanizing, adding that lawmaker even defended his deplorable remarks.
Mazzone said DA believes SAHRC will take Paulsen’s social media post seriously, as with the racist Clicks ad.
She said there is no distinction or favour in investigating racism and bigotry and the terrible damage they have done to the fabric of our society.
“DA finds it very ironic that the EFF portrays itself as a murderer of racism, protesting left, right and center when the opportunity arises to confront it, but not addressing racism itself.
Paulsen is nothing if not and a hypocrite who is comfortable calling a group of people” “brown pets” and “monkey faces” and then smash and destroy property, intimidate workers and incite violence when alleged racism occurs outside the EFF, “he said. Mazzone.
Mazzone said it is not the first time the DA takes a firm stance against Paulsen for his remarks.
“Earlier this year, DA filed a complaint against Paulsen and EFF leader Julius Malema for inciting violence.
Yesterday we lodged a complaint with the Parliamentary Ethics Committee for derogatory remarks on social media,” added Mazzone.
