In a bold move 100 days ago, the Democratic Alliance (DA) made the decision to enter the Government of National Unity rather than leave South Africa to the Economic Freedom Fighters and uMkondo we Sizwe party.
This decision, according to DA leader John Steenhuisen, has already begun to show promising results for the country’s economic future.
Steenhuisen explained that by prioritising economic growth and job creation, the DA is focused on turning South Africa’s fortunes around. In just 100 days, the DA has made significant strides towards this goal.
“Some of the key accomplishments in the first 100 days of the GNU include a comprehensive spending review to eliminate government programs that do not deliver value, efforts to bring the debt-to-GDP ratio under control, and initiatives to unlock tourism from China and India,” said Steenhuisen.
He claimed DA has been working on digitally transforming the Department of Home Affairs, refining visa regulations to attract skilled workers, and streamlining infrastructure projects through Infrastructure South Africa.
According to Steenhuisen DA has also taken a strong stance against corruption, launching investigations into the department of public works and reviewing local procurement rules to empower small businesses.
“DA’s focus on driving economic growth and creating jobs is already showing promising results. With a clear vision and proactive approach, the DA is leading South Africa towards a brighter future in the GNU,” added Steenhuisen.
