The Democratic Alliance (DA) proclaims that South Africa’s transformation has been achieved through the peaceful power of the ballot box, rather than the tumultuous turmoil of violence and unrest.
With a steadfast dedication to the nation’s multiparty democracy, enshrined in the constitution, the DA strives to safeguard against the dangers of a one-party state and strives to realise its grand vision.
This vision sees the DA championing the values of transparency, accountability, and good governance in South Africa.
DA leader John Steenhuisen, who takes delight in the fact that the party stands as the only one experiencing growth in the National Assembly, while others see their support dwindle.
Steenhuisen keenly observes that this growth is not limited to one region, with the party gaining significant ground in traditionally ANC-dominated areas like Free State, Mpumalanga, and Limpopo.
“This shift in support from former ANC loyalists towards the DA is a strong indication of the party’s commitment to saving the nation.”said Steenhuisen..
As the IEC carried on with tallying results from provinces and announcing the outcomes of the 2024 National and Provincial Elections on Friday, the DA remained in the top three, with the ANC leading but not reaching 50% of the total votes nationwide.
Despite this, Steenhuisen expressed immense satisfaction with the DA’s impressive showing in important areas like Soweto and Kwa-Thema in Gauteng, solidifying the party’s presence and impact in these crucial regions.
However, the ANC expresses gratitude to the South African people for their enthusiastic participation in the election process and for their unwavering support in shaping the country’s future.
The ANC Secretary General, Fikile Mbalula reiterated the party’s commitment to improving the lives of all citizens and stressed the significance of unity in bringing about lasting transformation.
The leading party in each voting district (voting station) on Saturday morning and their respective support is as follows:
