Update: In spite of obstacles brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, ANC believes the 2020 Matric class will make the country proud.
In a statement wishing more than 1 million leaners good luck in their final examinations which begins on Thursday,November 5, ANC National spokesperson Pule Mabe said the ruling party is confident that this year’s results will convey a strong message to the nation and the world our children refuse to be water drawers and wood hewers designed by the architects of apartheid education.
“This will be the biggest National Senior Certificate examination to date, with more than 1 million pupils writing final matric examination this year. We are confident many of our learners will defy the odds and emerge as the pride of our nation. The ANC wishes the Class of 2020 the best of luck,” said Mabe.
Mabe said despite the difficult and desperate conditions under which many of our schools operate, it’s heartening to note that, but we are winning the battle to create a more equal and quality education.
He said that although many of our schools are run under difficult and desperate conditions, we are happy to see the government continue winning the battle for a more equal and higher quality education.
“Our strife towards excellence and quality in our education has become irreversible. Our common task is to keep this momentum and protect the benefits that have made since 1994,” added Mabe.
Mabe said the ANC is calling on those who consider themselves patriots to partner with the government to run our schools.
“We must help each other keep the doors of learning wide open for South Africans. We urge stakeholders and parents, to take a keen interest to educate their children,” said Mabe.
