The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class, which will be unveiled in South Africa, is a new kind of comfort zone, designed to challenge the status quo in the automotive industry.
The new C-Class combines sleek style, sumptuous comfort, and cutting-edge support systems.
“The new C-Class will be launched to the South African market with the C200 and C220d variants, both powered by four-cylinder engines from Mercedes-Benz’s modular FAME family of engines,” says Selvin Govender, Mercedes-Benz Cars’ Director of Marketing and Sales.
The new C-Class is significantly larger than its predecessor, measuring 4751 mm long and 1820 mm wide.
Wheelbase has increased by 25 mm to 2865 mm, allowing both front and back passengers to enjoy the improved outward dimensions.
The designers reduced the lines to a minimum to emphasize the ‘catwalk line’ or shoulder line.
The new designs have wide tracks and flush 18 to 19-inch wheels, which gives the vehicle a great athletic appearance.
Mercedes-Benz saloons typically have a rear end design with tail lamps that provide a distinct day-and-night appearance.
The C-Class sports an interior features a free-standing high-resolution LCD screen in the driver’s area. Unlike standard cockpits with round dials, the driver’s display has a rectangular display.
Digititalisation is also evident in the center display, which can be used to operate various car functions.
Similarly to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the new C-Class has Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) 2.0, which makes the interior of the vehicle even more intuitive and sophisticated. Screen types include discreet, sporty, and classic, as well as navigation, assistance, and service modes.
Through activating internet services in the Mercedes me App, the voice assistant ‘Hey Mercedes’ becomes more intelligent and engaging.
It is also possible to carry out some activities without using an activation phrase. ‘Hey Mercedes’ can also provide information about the vehicle and recognize voice commands.
All C-Class models come with a 9G-TRONIC gearbox as standard. With the redesigned suspension, you’ll enjoy an excellent ride, noise comfort, quick handling, and a smooth drive.
With the new C-Class, you can have a continuously adjustable damping system and a sport suspension as an option.
Bigger, better, sleeker
“The new C-Class is the epitome of sporty luxury. Combining dynamic proportions, sculptural surfaces, and simplified lines, it is a stunning design.
With its vast range of high-tech features derived from the flagship S-Class, I have no doubt that the new C-Class will delight existing and prospective consumers,” said Mark Raine, Co-CEO of Mercedes-Benz South Africa and Executive Director of Mercedes-Benz Cars South Africa.
With this edition, Raine said [we] Mercedes-Benz are taking the next logical step toward a green and digital future, with a slew of innovative technologies.
Raine expressed confidence that his most popular model line would once again set the standard as the most advanced product in its category.
Driving assistance: support in hazardous situations
In comparison with the C-Class series of cars that preceded it, the new Driving Assistance Package offers more sophisticated and advanced features.
These make driving more comfortable and safer because they reduce driver workload in daily conditions. When danger approaches, the aid systems are capable of responding to collisions quickly.
