A 43-year-old foreign national was arrested last week for allegedly raping his 6-year-old biological daughter in Solomondale.
The suspect appeared before the Mankweng Magistrates Court on Friday and was remanded in police custody.
The Limpopo police spokesperson, Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, confirmed the mother and father had an arrangement for the father to reside with their daughter at his residence in Solomondale since the beginning of December last year.
According to reports, the victim complained about pains in her private parts during a visit to her mother and while bathing.
The mother suspected that her daughter had been raped and immediately took her to the clinic for a medical examination. The doctor confirmed that the child had indeed been raped and identified her father as the perpetrator.
The incident was reported to the police on Wednesday, and the suspect was apprehended the following day at his residence in Solomondale.
He appeared in court on Friday, and the case was postponed to October 27, 2023. Brigadier Mashaba stated that police investigations are still ongoing.
The Provincial police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, strongly condemned the shocking incident and commended the police for their swift arrest of the suspect.
She expressed her dismay at the father’s betrayal of his duty to provide and protect his daughter, stating that he had instead destroyed her future.
