In a twisted act of vengeance, a man accused of killing another was brutally assaulted and set ablaze in his vehicle outside a tavern in Kwaggafontein, Mpumalanaga on the morning of Christmas Day. According to police reports, the suspected culprit was confronted and attacked by a group of enraged individuals.
Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, a spokesperson for Mpumalanga Police, revealed that officers at Kwaggafontein were alerted of an incident that had led to two deaths.
“On arrival, officers were dismayed to discover one of the victims still engulfed in flames inside the vehicle, a VW Citi Golf. Firefighters and other medical personnel were called upon to try and save the life of the victim, but sadly, it was to no avail,” said Brigadier Mohlala.
Police have launched an investigation into the two tragic deaths of the male victims, one of whom sustained gunshot wounds, according to Mohlala.
“It is believed that the man who was later torched in his vehicle had earlier shot the other victim and was assaulted by a group of people before running to his car, leading to his ultimate demise. The identities of those involved have yet to be established,” added Mohlala.
