A Grade-12 pupil died after succumbing to multiple stabbing wounds following an altercation outside a tavern near his home at Marapong township in Lephalale on Thursday night.
Limpopo Police spokesperson, Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said two suspects, both aged 29, will appear in the Lephalale Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Colonel Ngoepe said the 21-year-old Tielelo High School pupil was in the company of his cousin when the suspects accused him he had stolen a cellphone.
“An argument ensued. The cousin ran away after the suspects hit him with a hard object. They then continued to assault the pupil, in the process stabbed him all over his body with a sharp object. The pupil also ran away but succumbed to multiple injuries sustained during the stabbing upon arrival at his home,” said Colonel Ngoepe, adding that one of the suspects attempted to knock down the dead pupil’s father with a car who went out to investigate what was happening before assailants flee the scene.
Colonel Ngoepe said Lephalale police arrested the two suspects after the incident and they will face charges of murder, attempted murder and assault grievous bodily harm when they appear in court on Monday.
He said police investigations are still continuing.
