Lephalale Regional Court on Thursday sentenced 37-year-old Happy Moyo to six years in prison for his involvement in motor vehicle theft.

According to reports, in February, Moyo and an accomplice were driving a black Toyota Hilux when police stopped and searched the vehicle at the Groblersburg border post near Tom Burke.

Upon inspection, the police discovered that the car had been tampered with, and Moyo could not provide valid documents to prove ownership.

Moyo was arrested and the case was assigned to Warrant Officer Mafiwa NKwana of Modimolle Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit for further investigation.

Moyo was found guilty and convicted of possession of a stolen vehicle.

Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, praised the arresting team and the investigating officers to stop criminal activities thriving in the province.
