Tragedy has struck the small village of Dzingidzingi, just outside of Giyani, as the police investigate a gruesome murder.
The lifeless, burnt body of a 40-year-old woman was discovered on Monday, following a collective search operation by the police and members of the community.
Limpopo police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the victim has been identified as Vilelani Irene Maluleke, a resident at the village.
According to reports, Vilelani was last seen in the early hours of Monday morning when she went to her boyfriend’s home after receiving a distressing phone call about one of her sick children.
However, when she failed to return home, her family reported her missing, and the search began.
Sadly, it wasn’t long before the search team discovered her burnt body in the bushes, with a tyre as the suspected murder weapon.
Colonel Ledwaba said police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, and preliminary investigations suggest that domestic violence may have played a role.
