Illicit cigarettes trader in court

0 0

Update: A 27-year-old suspect, Livonia Abo, arrested for trading in illicit cigarettes, has appeared in the Lephalale Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.

He is out on R2000 bail and the court postponed the case to June 11, 2020, for further investigations.

Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said police arrested the suspect on Monday following a tip-off that one shop in Lephalale Central Business District near the police station is selling illicit cigarettes.

“Upon arrival at the shop, police found and confiscated illicit cigarettes to the value of R750 000 packed in the storeroom,” added Brigadier Mojapelo.

Police are still tracing an accomplice, evading arrest.
