More than 180 laptops worth more than R4 million were stolen from the Limpopo Rural Development Department in a predawn robbery on Tuesday, police reported on Thursday.
Limpopo Police spokesman, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said robbers fled the scene in a dark Toyota bakkie.
“Two security guards were on duty when about four armed suspects entered the building. They allegedly tied up the guards and locked them in one of the rooms before going to the director’s office to remove laptops,” Brigadier Mojapelo said.
He said no shots were fired during the robbery.
“Using trolleys, the suspects allegedly carried 185 laptops valued at more than R4 million from the office and then fled the scene using a dark Toyota bakkie,” Mojapelo said.
He said police are investigating a case of business robbery.
