Update: Two suspects in the murder of a Grade 12 pupil at Marapong township, Lephalale were for the third time denied bail in the Lephalale Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
Ramabudu John Majadibodu and Lucky Matlhatsi Monene, both 29-years-old, were arrested on November 5, 2020 after assaulting and fatally wounding a 21-year-old Tielelo High School pupil allegedly with a sharp object.
For the second time, Court adjourned the case for formal bail application pending further police investigations.
The alleged killers were first denied bail when they made their first court appearance on Monday, November 9.
The duo appeared again on Wednesday 11, and the case was postponed to November 25, 2020.
The court remanded both the accused into custody.
Colonel Ngoepe said the stabbed 21-year-old pupil was walking past the tavern near his home with his cousin when confronted by the suspects, accusing him of stealing a cellphone.
“An argument ensued. The cousin escaped after the suspects hit with a hard object. The suspects continued to attack the pupil, in the process stabbed him all over his body with a sharp object.
The pupil also managed to escape but succumbed to multiple injuries sustained during the stabbing upon arrival at his home,” said Colonel Ngoepe, adding that one suspect attempted to knock down the dead pupil’s father who went out to investigate what was happening before the suspects flee the scene.
He said police investigations are continuing.
