A 24-year -old woman appeared in Lephalale Magistrate’s Court on Monday charged with murder after she reportedly stabbed her boyfriend to death on Saturday night.
She was remanded into custody and the case was postponed until September 19 for bail application.
Limpopo Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Malesela ledwaba said the incident took place in Marapong township on Saturday night following a reported domestic violence.
“Police were called to Marapong health care centre on Saturday night about a man who was taken there after being stabbed and on arrival, police found a man lying dead,” said Lt Col Ledwaba.
Ledwaba said the victim, identified as Charles Kamogelo from Mafikeng, was taken to hospital where he later died.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased and his female partner had an argument while at Marapong extension 1 and during the argument the suspect stabbed the deceased.
The case was opened for murder and further investigations are ongoing.
The incident occurred just 12 days after a prayer day session was held at Thabo Mbeki stadium in Witpoort to end Gender-Based –Violence (GBV) including child abuse, murder and suicide.
Limpopo Police Chief Lieutenant General Thembile Hadebe says no one will be spared or treated with mercy when it comes to issues related to gender violence. “We take a firm stand against any form of violence and those who are involved in such crimes will not be dealt with harshly,” added Lt Col Hadebe.
