To make up for the teaching period lost due to COVID-19, Limpopo education department has instructed schools to resume classes for enrichment on Saturdays and the Spring holidays.

Departmental spokesperson, Tidimalo Chuene said the program will help grade 12 learners who will write the 2020 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations

“Leaners will attend Saturday classes on October 17, 24, and 31, and spring lessons from October 26-30, 2020. The focus is also on helping pupils work on subjects they failed during trial examinations.,” Chuene said in a statement on Friday.

Chuene said that as part of its leaner’s education strategy for 2020, which started with Saturday and spring classes for grade 12 in August, the department suspended the programs in several schools as trial examinations began.

Polly Boshielo, MEC from Limpopo Education, has confirmed that she has visited and will continue to go to several schools to help motivate the matriculants ahead of their final NSC examinations.

“All it takes is hard work and more hard work in this life. Now your focus is commitment and dedication to get the best results.

We keep in mind we prevent the risk of COVID-19 and continue to pressure schools to make sure they conduct these enrichment sessions as part of our standard operating procedures for pandemic prevention and management,” said MEC Boshielo.
