Limpopo police comprising Highway Patrol Team and Flying Squard have arrested 16 suspects for possession of unlicensed firearms drugs including stolen vehicles
On Friday.four suspects aged between 23 and 34 were arrested for business robbery and burglary at a shop in Jane Furse
Two suspects aged 30 were arrested in Modimolle for armed robbery.
Limpopo Police Spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the provincial Highway Patrol received information about suspects driving a white Polo that committed armed robbery in Modimolle.
“The vehicle was spotted at Mantsole, and was approached by members. The vehicle marching the discription was stopped, searched and suspects also arrested.,”said Col Ledwaba
In another crime bust, Mahwelereng Flying Squad arrested a 31-year-old suspect found in illicit cigarettes.
According to Col Ledwaba the suspect was found in possession of two boxes and 130 cartoons of illicit cigarettes with the street value of R20 000.
He said in another swoop conducted in Polokwane City, two suspects where arrested separately after being found in possession of drugs.
“Police confiscated 200 sachets of nyaope found in their possession with a street value estimated at R10 000 and 03 sachets of crystal meth with a black market of R5 000,”
He said another suspect aged 40, was arrested at Polokwane Indian Centre found in possession of 40 sachets of nyaope.
Police arrested a 36-year-old suspect for dealing and possession of crystal meth and rock in Westenburg, on Friday 10 February 2023. The drugs worth estimated Street value of R20 000.
Three suspects aged 28 and 41 were arrested at Makgofe village for dealing and possession of dagga.
“The Police were busy patroling when they received information about a silver grey VW Polo that distributes dagga around Lithuli Park and Moletji Mmotong. The vehicle was then spotted at Makgofe. They stopped it, and searched it and found dagga with estimated value of R5 000, “
On Friday, Col Ledwaba said police arrested three suspects aged 35 and 38 at Westenburg, outside Hfor possession of unlicensed firearm, conspiracy to commit house breaking and possession of housebreaking implements.
He said police recovered firearm, hand gloves, screw drivers, plier, hammer, balaclava spanner and a Toyota bakkie was seized.
Police arrested business and house robbery suspect aged 36, on Saturday at Olifatshoek village following a robbery reported at Hlanganani Saps.
A 40-year-old suspect arrested, on Saturday for business robbery incident at Moletjie Mashobohleng Percy Wholesale.
“Upon following the leads, they found a black BMW 3 series that was allegedly used to commit this robbery and some of the stolen items such as alcohol, cigarettes, computers and Plasma TV stored in garage at Ivy Park in Polokwane,”said Col Ledwaba.
Limpopo Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe commended members for good work and continuously arresting criminals.
She also appreciated the community members for positively contributing in the fight against crime.
Col Ledwaba said Some of the suspects had already appeared before local magistrates.
