Limpopo Premier successor: ANC shortlists three candidates

The African National Congress (ANC) has begun the process of selecting a new premier for Limpopo, following a resounding victory in the province with 74% of the vote.

Three candidates have been shortlisted to succeed Premier, Stanley Mathabatha:

  • Phophi Ramathuba, Health MEC and front-runner
  • Nakedi Sibanda-Kekana, Sports, Arts and Culture MEC
  • Basikopo Makamu, Cogta MEC

A panel led by ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula grilled the candidates in intense interviews at the ANC’s Limpopo provincial office in Polokwane from June 12 until Friday…

According  to the ANC, interviews aims at assessing candidate’s leadership skills, vision, economic development strategies, service delivery, governance, and party loyalty.

The ANC says it seeks to identify a leader who will drive the province forward..

“The outcome of the interview.m will determine the next premier, with an announcement expected soon,”  the party said.
