Mashaba casts suspicions concerning release on bail of an undocumented suspect charged with property theft

ActionSA says it has written an open letter to Acting Public Protector, Advocate Koleka Gcaleka, regarding the release on bail of Tony Khadzadi, an illegal immigrant accused of illegally hijacking property in Ekurhuleni.

In a statement on Monday, ActionSA leader, Herman Mashaba stated that Kadzadi, of Nigerian nationality, was released on bail on January 23, despite not having the proper documents to reside within the borders of South Africa.

“He seems to commit crimes with impunity in South Africa, which further aggravates the situation,” said Mashaba.
Kadzadi’s crimes, according to Mashaba, include illegal immigration, sexual harassment, and property theft.

According to Mashaba Kadzadi has been unlawfully hijacking properties in Ekurhuleni since at least 2021.

Godfrey Mncedane, a complainant, the legal firm representing him and the owners of two more properties, have presented evidence that Kadzadi hijacked their properties – turning them into his residence and work place.”

In light of this, Mashaba said ActionSA requested Advocate Gcaleka’s urgent intervention in order to find out how Kadzadi was able to secure bail despite being an illegal immigrant.

“It is of serious concern to all law-abiding South African citizens that this individual from Nigeria gained entry into our country, remains completely at ease living within the country’s borders without the proper documentation, and committing crimes.”

Mashaba said his party had also written to the Minister of Home Affairs, IPID and the Director of National Director of Public Prosecutions in this matter. In addition, ActionSA visited the Gauteng Provincial Police Commissioner’s Office regarding this absurd state of affairs, but no action was taken.
