LEPHALATE – The Metsi Ke Matla Joint Venture (MKM-JV) will host an SMME Engagement Session on March 3, 2026, at 9:00 AM in the Mogol Community Hall, Lephalate.
This follows a meeting where Lephalale Local Municipality, Mayor Aaron Mokgetle, and the Chief Whip, Joseph Machaba, met with municipal officials and officials from the Trans-Caledon Tunnel Authority on October 16, 2025 at the Municipal Council Chambers to formally introduce the contractor appointed for the pipeline component of the Mokolo Crocodile Water Augmentation Project Phase 2A (MCWAP- 2A).
The purpose of the SMME engagement session on Tuesday is to provide clear guidance on MKM-JV’s procurement processes, explain compliance and tender requirements, outline Central Supplier Database expectations, guide SMMEs through supplier registration and tender-readiness processes, and promote transparent and inclusive participation.
The session is open to all Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) operating within the Lephalale area. Enquiries can be directed to enquiries@mkmjv.co.za.
This major infrastructure project is expected to create job opportunities and opening up space for SMME participation, particularly for local businesses and residents.
Construction is set to commence later in the year, with the pipeline connecting Thabazimbi to Lephalale.
MCWAP-2A is a key element of the Presidential Infrastructure Coordinating Commission’s Strategic Integrated Project 1 (PICC SIP-01), which prioritizes the development of the Waterberg area as a future growth point.
Once completed, the project will assist in supporting industrialisation in the region by meeting the increasing water demand from Lephalale Municipality due to population growth and providing additional water to sustain and expand mining operations by Exxaro, as well as Eskom’s Matimba and Medupi power stations.
