uMkhonto weSizwe party Member of Parliament Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla has resigned from the National Assembly, the party confirmed on Friday amid unresolved allegations she recruited citizens for Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Mk party national chairperson Nathi Nhleko announced the resignation in a brief statement, saying Zuma-Sambudla “has stepped down from her position in Parliament.”
The party declined to elaborate on her departure or address claims that she facilitated the trafficking of young South Africans to Russian military zones.
The allegations, first reported in November 2025, allege Zuma-Sambudla used social media groups to lure at least 22 men to Russia under false pretenses.
Victims’ families say recruits had passports destroyed and communication severed upon arrival.
Zuma-Sambudla, daughter of former President Jacob Zuma, has not publicly commented. The MK Party has previously distanced itself from the scandal, calling it a “Dudu matter” rather than a party issue.
