Build One South Africa (BOSA) is urging President Cyril Ramaphosa to convene national convention, bringing together all 18 Parliamentary parties to define a new Government of National Unity (GNU).
The current impasse between the African National Congress (ANC) and Democratic Alliance (DA) over government positions and power is a major hurdle.
BOSA Acting Spokesperson, Roger Solomons said he has written to the President, calling for action as 60 million South Africans anxiously wait.
Solomons believes national convention is the most democratic and transparent way to form government that prioritises delivery and serves all citizens.
“The focus should be on the government’s direction, not trading positions for cooperation,” he stressed.
The convention’s agenda should prioritise citizens’ interests, operate with honesty, transparency, and accountability, and uphold non-racialism, constitutionalism, and the rule of law.
He said its governance plan should focus on growing economy, fixing state-owned enterprises, tackling crime and corruption, reforming education, and promoting ethical leadership.
