New Audi Q7 design shows SUV features

This massive SUV now has a new design from the Q family and, in addition to its incredible spaciousness, offers great dynamism and great comfort. Updated digital interior concept and the entire Audi Connect range of services are just a few of the highlights.

The new Audi Q7 is currently available in South Africa.

Sturdy exterior design

Audi Q7 shows the special features of the SUV in the current design language. It supports a large octagonal single frame with six vertical blades that secure the structure.

This makes the SUV look even more powerful. The two-piece air inlet has much more expressive lines, such as the sill area, which emphasizes the large SUV’s ground clearance and off-road capability.

Optional headlamps in Matrix LED technology accentuate the overall width of the model with its contours and highlights.

On the restored rear, the striking chrome strip creates a visual connection between the flat taillights and technical-looking graphics and transfers the horizontal body lines to the front.

The designers got a clear view with an elongated flat surface that stretched the full width, especially around the number plates.

The Audi Q7 is even more interesting in the S-Line model with enhanced external accents:

Offers front bumper sheets, black titanium radiator grille with vertical blades in matt aluminum finish, sporty rear guard and full paint, high-gloss package, aluminum roof rails and 20-inch wheels as standard.

Sporty on the road, powerful: suspension

Audi has significantly improved the dynamic aspects of the Q7.

Thanks to optimized all-wheel drive, the rear wheels can rotate up to five degrees in the opposite direction.

This makes the Audi Q7 agile, precise and agile in city traffic and in corners.

In contrast, the Q7 behaves like a very comfortable and balanced touring SUV with excellent ride comfort – especially in relation to the optional adaptive air suspension.

It also offers variable ground clearance and prepares the Audi Q7 for off-road terrain with its standard quattro drive.

The appropriate off-road mode can be selected using the standard Audi drive selection dynamic control system with its seven profiles.

There is a diesel engine in a local model. This corresponds to the eight-speed Tiptronic and permanent all-wheel drive.

The Audi Q7 45 TDI quattro tiptronic has an output of 183 kW and 600 Nm of torque. This accelerates the massive SUV from rest to 100 km / h in 6.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 225 km / h.

Luxury class salon: interior

With either five or seven seats, the Audi Q7 combines extraordinary prestige with practical, everyday qualities.

With its new design, this huge SUV has grown by eleven millimeters to 5,063 millimeters.

It is 1,970 millimeters long and 1,741 millimeters high (including the roof antenna).

The Audi Q7 outperformed its direct competitors in terms of interior length as well as head and elbow room at the front and rear.

Multiple storage compartments, new compartments on the dashboard, and high load capacity offer functional benefits.

Depending on the back seat position, the five-seater version of the luggage compartment has a capacity of between 865 and 2050 liters – the latter with a flat load compartment.

Electric rear doors are standard, including foot-operated motion controls.

Audi offers an optional plus rear seat as part of the comfort package. The three seats move forward / backward separately and at an adjustable back angle. With two rows of seats with two electric reducing seats, the Q7 makes 7 comfortable seats.

The cockpit architecture is in perfect harmony with the new digital operating concept, which includes two large touch screens. They provide tactile and audible feedback when you click the touch controls.

When turned off, the top view cuts almost imperceptibly onto the large black decorative surface.

All elements are logically connected to each other, from the flat exhaust strip to the center tunnel wide console.

Optional contour lighting package illuminates interiors in the dark.

Handy equipment options include (standard) four-zone automatic air conditioning, a power-up function for silently closing doors, and the Bang & Olufsen 3D Premium Sound System.

Local packages: offering simplicity

The new Audi Q7 will offer the package concept as introduced on other new models launched in South Africa.

The concept aims to reduce complexity when ordering a new vehicle, considering that a customer is generally faced with a long list of options to choose from.

It classifies key options according to a specific customer need and offers a straight-forward value proposition that is easy for a customer to understand.

These packages have been defined by a combination of customer preferences as well as strategic options which aim to highlight the vehicle’s uniqueness.

The packages include:

  • Comfort
  • Black styling
  • S line interior

Within each package structure is a few options suited to the particular proposition. Please visit the Audi website to find out more.
