Pensioner, couple murdered in apparent love triangle tragedy in Limpopo

Limpopo police are investigating three murders and an inquest in separate incidents where the suspect allegedly strangled his 80-year-old neighbour to death then stole his firearm in a safe and a motor vehicle at Lwamondo Mutandani village, outside of Thohoyandou.

According to Limpopo police spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, a  dramatic event unfolded last Thursday night.

“Subsequently,Thohoyandou police were summoned to a house near the Baptist Church in Sibasa, where they discovered the bodies of a male and female – both of whom sustained gunshot wounds,” said Brigadier Mojapelo.

Police were shocked to discover that an apparent love triangle had resulted in the tragic murders of two victims, Patricia Manavhela (48) and her partner, Simon Ramutsindela Thifhelimbilu (49).

Brigadier Mojapelo said The incident occurred on Friday morning in Vuwani, following the strangling of  an 80-year-old pensioner, Ngondiseni Samuel Shavhani, found dead in his house  in a passage.

He said the suspect then took a firearm and a motor vehicle and drove to Thohoyandou Block Q, where he proceeded to shoot the two victims before making his escape and turning the gun on himself.

A case of three murders and inquest was opened.
