Petrol price hike empties wallets and tanks

South African motorists are in for a rude awakening as petrol prices soar to new heights this week.

The cost of filling up your tank with unleaded 95 or unleaded 93 will skyrocket by a whopping R1.71 per litre on Wednesday, September 6,2023.

Brace yourself for prices as high as R24.54 inland and R23.82 on the coast.

But that’s not all – diesel drivers will feel the pinch even more, The wholesale price of diesel will be increasing by an eye-watering R2.84 a litre,according to the Automobile Association (AA), this is a record price increase. 

This means fuel stations will have to jack up their diesel retail prices significantly.

If you use illuminating paraffin, prepare for a big hit as wholesale and maximum retail prices go up by R3.78 and R3.70, respectively.

Even gas users won’t be spared, with a maximum LPGAS retail price of R2.26 per kilogram more than in August 2023.
