Limpopo police are investigating the death of a 10-year-old boy whose charred body was found in a shack at Marapong Ext 3 Manamela Park Squatter camp in Lephalale.
The boy, Moshi Matsobane Bradly, was found burnt beyond recognition in a shack at around 12:30 on Sunday.
Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, spokesperson for Limpopo Police, stated that the boy had been left alone in a room with his 17 year old sister when their mother left the house.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
“When Emergency Services and Police arrived at the scene, the burnt body had already been identified as that of Moshi Matsobane Bradly,” said Colonel Ledwaba.
In light of the tragedy, Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has urged parents to be extra vigilant in the care of their children, particularly during the winter season.
She also warned parents to keep track of their children and to never leave fire unattended.
The investigations are still ongoing, and Colonel Ledwaba urged members of the public to come forward with any information they may have.
