President Ramaphosa to address the nation tonight on Zondo Commission recommendations

President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to address the nation tonight to outline the steps the government is taking to implement the recommendations of  Zondo Commission of Inquiry into those implicated in state capture.

In a statement, the presidency said President Ramaphosa has also informed the Speaker of the National Assembly, Nosiviwe Maphisa-Nqakula, he would be submitting to Parliament his response to allegations of State Capture, Corruption, and Fraud in the Public Sector, including state organs.

This 76-page report explains how to respond and implement the commission’s findings and recommendations, according to the presidency.

President Ramaphosa said he would implement the commission’s recommendations, as required by the Gauteng High Court ruling on February 23, 2022, and based on the Public Protector’s recommendations.

A commission led by Chief Justice Raymond Zondo was established in response to the Public Protector’s report, which was released on November 2, 2016.
