President Ramaphosa unveils new cabinet

In a historic announcement on Sunday night, President Cyril Ramaphosa unveiled new National Executive that embodies diversity, inclusivity, and collaboration.

The government’s portfolios have been significantly revamped, with members from various political parties coming together to form a Government of National Unity.

The new lineup includes representatives from the African National Congress, Democratic Alliance, Patriotic Alliance, Inkatha Freedom Party, Good Party, Pan Africanist Congress of Azania, Freedom Front Plus, United Democratic Movement, Al Jama-ah, Rise Mzansi, and the United Africans Transformation.

President Ramaphosa emphasized the importance of a focused approach to key issues, leading to the reorganization of several ministries.

Notable changes include merging of ministries like Electricity and Energy, the separation of ministries like Agriculture and Land Reform, and the creation of separate Ministry of Mineral and Petroleum Resources.

The restructuring also includes separation of Higher Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation, and Justice and Constitutional Development for better alignment.

The appointments reflect a collaborative effort to represent the diversity of South Africa and work towards a common goal of progress and development.

Key appointments include Paul Mashatile as Deputy President, John Steenhuisen as Minister of Agriculture, Rosemary Nokuzola Capa as Deputy Minister of Agriculture, and Siviwe Gwarube as Minister of Basic Education.

President Ramaphosa emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in tackling the nation’s challenges and announced the convening of a National Dialogue.

This dialogue will bring together all stakeholders, including political parties, civil society groups, labor, and business, to find solutions for the country’s critical issues.

“The aim is to foster a spirit of partnership and cooperation to address the nation’s challenges and move forward together towards a brighter future,” said President Ramaphosa.

He called on all South Africans to participate in the National Dialogue and support the Government of National Unity as it embarks on its work for the betterment of the country.
